Academic Information

 1) The Preschool

Preschool is a child’s first learning experience. The FSG’s main goal is to prepare the students for primary school while inspiring a desire and a love for learning.

In order to attend the preschool, a student must attain the age of 2 prior to 31 December of that year.  Children who are 2 years old attend morning classes only.  Those who are 3 years old may also attend afternoon classes.  Students who are registered with another school may not attend classes for only half a day.

The preschool class combines children of preschool and kindergarten ages, following the same curriculum as that used in France.  Activites are created on an age-appropriate basis, and are intended to integrate children into a larger group, while teaching them to learn and  play amongst their peers.  The kindergarten students also benefit from four hours of English lessons per week.  An evaluation is prepared for the parents at the end of each semester.

 2) The Primary School

There is a single, small-sized primary school class. It is divided into two cycles  and follows the curriculum of the Ministere de l’Education   The cycle des apprentissages fondamentaux (C.P./C.E.1) consists of students in the last year of kindergarten, and first 2 years of primary school.  Cycles des approfondissements (C.E./C.M.1/C.M.2)  includes  students in their third, fourth and fifth years of primary school.

During school hours, the students benefit from:

·      English classes (4 hours per week)

·      Introduction to computers

·      Physical Education classes

·      Multi-resource library aiding students to become independent readers

·      Connection between the senior kindergarten and grade one students

·      Use of Guangzhou area resources for:

·      Field trips

·      Sports days with other area international schools (Japanese, American)

At the end of each semester (in January and mid-June) the students will receive term reports.
